The use of a moment method to solve an inverse problem of a radiative transfer in an inhomogeneous plane medium of scattering albedo is examined. The equations for calculating the boundary conditions, scattering albedo, and total albedo are presented. The procedure for solving the derived moment equations in order to compute the emergent intensity and the total albedo is described. The results are compared with the data obtained by Dunn (1983) using the Monte Carlo method and good correlation is observed.
