The possibility of applying solutions to the equations of hydrostatic and energy equilibrium to describe the distribution of gas in the gravitational field of cD galaxies is investigated. It is shown that the condition of energy equilibrium without allowance for the energy fluxes is most probably not satisfied. The radiation losses in the center of a cD galaxy can in this case be compensated by electron heat conduction and matter fluxes from the hotter exterior regions of the cD galaxies.
