The authors present models for Type I supernova light curves, based on the partial explosion (leaving a bound remnant) of a mass-accreting white dwarf in a close binary system. These models would correspond to partially solid white dwarfs and they can reproduce the Pskovskii-Branch effect, in contrast with those based on the more usual assumption of total disruption of the white dwarf. A value of H0 = 100 km s-1Mpc-1 seems to be excluded by the authors' models. Remaining uncertainties are discussed.
