Twenty-seven 1:5,000,000-scale maps of the Venus surface were created on the basis of Venera 15 and 16 radar data. The maps were compiled using a new geometric model for the generation of radar panoramas which is not restricted by the laws of central projection. Also used were new approaches for determining the resolution and for eliminating the systematic errors of radar images.
