Since 1986 the Department of Geomagnetism of Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris has been involved in two programs which need instrumentation development in fluxgate magnetometer. The first one, MAGNOLIA, is a project of space magnetic observatory with a previous duration of 5 years, the second one, Observatoire Magnetique planetaire (OMP) is a worldwide project of 15 to 20 automatic magnetic observatories. The project is a major contribution to the international INTERMAGNET project. These projects are discussed.
