Scientific paper

CCD photometric observations (V, R, and I) of BL Lac object PKS 0735+178 were carried out from 1995 January to 2001 March. Combining this data and data from the literature, the historical light curve from 1906 to 2001 was compiled and used to study the source's periodicity. Several periodicities were found, of which the most important is a period of 13.8 yr, similar to the period of 14.2 yr found by Fan et al.
