We investigate the transition from regular motion to chaos, in a logarithmic galactic potential with the additional perturbing term -λr3. This potential can be considered to describe plane motion in elliptical galaxies. We find numerically the critical values of the physical parameters and present several relationships giving the evolution of the critical values of these parameters. Our numerical calculations suggest that, all existing relationships, giving the critical values of a parameter as function of another physical quantity, are linear. Those linear relationships can be found using some elementary theoretical arguments. Comparison to previous work is also made.
