Blue diffuse and star-like objects are found in the Arp ring around M81 on plates obtained with the 6-m telescope. The light of the Arp ring is stellar but not synchrotron radiation. The parallel straight absorption bands across the spiral pattern in the northern part of M81 are suggested to be the projection of the dust matter of the ring onto the background of the M81 disk. The density of detected objects is proportional to the density of H I. They are mainly large young clusters connected with H II regions. The ongoing star formation in the Arp ring and its very existence may be related in some way with interaction between M81 and M82 and even with the galactic wind from the latter.
