The implications of the experimental observations of Radermacher (1985),
confirming the existence of massive W bosons and Z0 particles, for the
theory of tachyons are explored. It is argued that the existence of
these masses is consistent with spontaneous symmetry breaking, which in
turn does not permit the existence of self-interacting tachyons.
