We study the relation between the magnitude of the Balmer discontinuity
and the effective temperature of main sequence stars. We show that the
observed Balmer discontinuities exhibit a systematic divergence from the
theoretical discontinuities obtained using the Kurucz models. We discuss
the possible reasons for this discrepancy.
