The parameters of the optical star are derived from the analysis of the shape of the photographic light curve of HZ Her in the long quiescent state (1937 - 1944, 1948 - 1956) published by Hudec and Wenzel (1986), using the program of synthesis of optical light curves of X-ray binaries, and also from an analysis of different parts of the light curve. Preliminary results show that the optical star in the long quiescent state of the system does not fill its critical Roche lobe by 20 - 35%, the effective temperature of its nonirradiated surface is Teff ⪆ 8000K, and the formal dimensions of the accretion structure exceed by more than 10% the mean radius of the Roche lobe of the neutron star.
