Quasars: Identifications, Quasars: Radio Sources
Scientific paper
The proportion of quasars in bright high frequency radio sources is larger than in low frequency sources. 17.8% of low frequency 3CR radio sources (S178MHz ≥ 9 Jy) at 178 MHz are quasars, and 35.6% of bright sources (S2.7GHz ≥ 2.0 Jy) at 2.7 GHz are quasars. Among 518 bright sources (S5GHz ≥ 1.0 Jy) at 5 GHz, at least 291 (≥ 56%) of them are known as being quasars. The author stresses that identification of high frequency bright radio sources is an efficient method to find quasars.
