An 11.4 pc diameter shell of ionized gas has been found to be expanding at 263 km s-1 away from the star cluster which contains R132 in the halo of the 30 Doradus nebula. Spatially resolved observations of the [O III]5007 Å line profiles have been made over the whole area of this shell. A model of the expanding ionized shell has been constructed to permit the estimation of its physical parameters. Stellar winds could be considered as the sole source of kinetic driving this shell but the high expansion velocity favours a supernova origin. The high-speed wings to negative radial velocities in the interstellar absorption lines in the light from stars embedded in 30 Dor could be a consequence of many expanding shells of this nature in the halo of 30 Dor.
