Thermal conduction is very efficient in high temperature plasma of, for example, a protogalaxy. When supernovae explode, there may exist a period when pure thermal conduction is the dominant process of energy propagation. The author discusses explicitly the self-similar solution of thermal conduction from a point-like steady source. As a hydrodynamic consequence, thermal conduction results naturally in a strong shock wave. As an application, the author analyzes the energy propagation during collective SN explosions in a merging model of galaxy formation. He concludes that the distance that thermal conduction can influence is of the same order of magnitude as distant as when energy has to be transferred over on a galactic scale.
