The paper examines the problem of determining the orientation of a coordinate system according to measurements of the projections of vectors specified in a certain initial coordinate system. This problem is important in connection with determining the attitude of a spacecraft according to measurements of directions (e.g., toward a star) as well as vector quantities using instruments on the spacecraft. A covariance analysis of the accuracy of the orientation determination is presented for the case of small rotations in three-dimensional space.
