The paper presents the results of observations carried out as part of the MANIA experiment in 1986 on the 6-m telescope. The experiment was designed to search for rapid variability and to determine the UBVR characteristics of low-mass close binary systems containing the following X-ray sources: X0042 + 32, X1728-169, X1813-14, X1822-00, and X1957 + 11. The search for variability within a time scale of 5 x 10 to the -7th to 10 to the 2nd was carried out for all of the objects with the exception of X1822-00.
