The stellar kinematics of nearby, optically luminous, elliptical galaxies of moderate radio power is investigated to determine whether these galaxies are kinematically unusual or show evidence for a relationship between their radio properties and stellar dynamics. A model describing the structure and kinematics of elliptical galaxies is developed which allows for oblate, prolate, and triaxial figure types. The model is fitted to the data to estimate the position angle of the rotation axis and the scale and amplitude of the rotation curve for each galaxy. The results demonstrate that elliptical galaxies possess a wide range of rotation velocities and that the projected minor and rotation axes can be oriented very differently. There is a tendency for the rotation axis to align with one of the symmetry axes of the projected figure.
