A new discussion of the Toomre stability parameter Q, frequently used in order to decide whether disks of various types of galaxies are stable, is presented. The influence of various factors on its radial variations is considered. A range of possible values of Q due to its dynamical properties connected with galactic morphology is suggested. Applications of the results to NGC 891, NGC 4244, and NGC 5907 are considered.
