Using the Gamma-Ray-Induced Dopplerbroadening (GRID) technique, lifetimes of states in the γ- and K=0+3 band in 168Er were determined. The resulting absolute B(E2)-values are compared with theoretical models describing 168Er within the framework of the Interacting Boson Model (IBM) and the Triaxial Projected Shell Model (TPSM). Special emphasis is put on a reinterpretation of the level scheme in terms of the new Partial Dynamical Symmetry (PDS) approach.
