The evolution of protoplanetary disks around young stars is briefly
reviewed. The most important physical mechanisms that drive the mass
accretion are gravitational, magnetic, and thermal convective
instabilities. These mechanisms are dominant in different regions of the
disk and at different evolutionary epochs.
