A consequence of a model of an OH maser source suggested by Elitzur and de Jong (1978) is that hydrogen molecules in the source will radiate copiously in rotational lines. Consideration of the thermal balance in the region where OH masers are expected to form permits the calculation of emissivities in H2 lines. Such lines may be observable in W3 OH at a resolving power of order 1000, and, if measured, would constitute a useful diagnostic probe of conditions in the maser region. For comparison, fluxes in rotational lines of H2 are also predicted for the Orion Molecular Cloud.
