Geochronological data on worldwide magmatism for the last 98 major events during the past 250 Myr are analyzed. It is observed that the magmatic episodes correlate with solar system crossing through the galactic disk, impact cratering episodes, the galactic vertical motion of the solar system, and biological mass extinction. The relation between magmatic episodes and plate tectonic events is examined.
