In accordance with the theory of numerical filter, we used a serial combination of Vondrak filter to construct a multi-stage filter of the form tW = C[I -VN]M to effect a narrow-band filtering of time series. Simulation tests returned favourable results. Applying this filter to the homogenized ILS series (1899.85 - 1978.95) of Yumi and Yokoyama, we successfully isolated the annual term, the Chandler term and the long-period term in the x- and y- series, and obtained practical 0.05 yr series of the various terms.
