A correlation was found between the distribution of maximal tangential stresses in the Venusian lithosphere and the topography of the planet. The largest stresses are located under Ishtar Terra in the region of the Maxwell Mount (about 300 bars). Under the Aphrodite Terra, the stresses are equal to about 100-150 bars and are concentrated under Atla Regio in the east and Ovda and Thetis Regio in the west. The distribution of the maximal tangential stresses in the mantle is studied qualitatively for the second spherical harmonic.
