Scientific paper

An instability exists in flows accelerated by the scattering or absorption of radition by bound species. This paper calculates its growth rate and considers its saturated state. If growth occurs it may produce clumping factors up to 108 in the jets of SS 433. It may be possible to reconcile the low mass efflux rates inferred from line-locking and supercritical accretion disk calculations with the very intense observed line radiation.
