The discovery of an unexpected abundance of binaries among the transneptunian population has enabled the detailed physical study of these objects. About half of the >50 known binaries now have their mutual orbits determined, yielding their mass. For a smaller subset, size determinations provide density and albedo. Because of the unique availability of this critical physical information, binaries are likely to be among the most intensively studied transneptunian objects. With this proposal, we seek to add another observational dimension to the study of these key objects. From these observations will measure the periods, amplitudes and the tidal evolution state of these systems which constrains formation models and internal structure. Only limited observations of variability exist for transneptunian binaries; this proposal will mark the first systematic effort to obtain lightcurves for these important targets.
