An attempt has been made to resolve the question of whether the cerium anomaly of Antarctic eucrites was caused by a preterrestrial process or by a terrestrial effect. To examine the effect of weathering, rare earth element abundances were determined for an inner part of the ALH-78132 eucrite. Contents of MgO, FeO, CaO and Na2O were also determined by the atomic absorption method for these specimens, both for the inner and outer parts. Ions of cerium and neodymium isotopes were measured. The results strongly suggest that the positive Ce anomaly of the Antarctic eucrite is a result of terrestrial weathering.
