Hertzsprung (1927) and Popovic (1982) report on three unusual images found on archival photographs which could have been caused by optical transients. The author has examined the original photograph on which the Hertzsprung object appears and concludes that it is a plate defect. He has also located photographs which were exposed several hours after Popovic's photographs which show no unusual objects at or near the transient positions.
