New uvbyβ photometry is presented for 26 previously unobserved faint members of the very young galactic cluster NGC 6231, and for 24 members which have data already published. The β/V0 relation does not have the same shape as Crawford's β/MV calibration relation and this calibration gives distance moduli for the brighter members which are some 0.6 mag greater than those for the late B stars. It is concluded that the lower envelope of the later B stars in a V0/c0 graph probably represents the zero age main sequence, in which case the uvbyβ and the UBV photometric methods of distance determination may be reconciled for a distance modulus of 11.0, or a distance of 1.6 kpc.
