Modeling of satellite interaction with its environment is discussed. The use of such modeling in orbit determination or orbit restitution is described. The importance of knowing the position and velocity of a satellite at the time a signal is transmitted is identified as crucial for the correct interpretation of that signal. The need for accurate modeling of the forces acting on a satellite in order to determine its trajectory is stressed. The calculations involved in such modeling are presented. Solar radiation pressure and other space environment effects are included in the modeling.
