The limitations of the classical theory of tearing mode are discussed. It is suggested that the periodicity of the tearing mode must be considered and its induced electric field will meet the requirement of millisecond radio spikes in solar flares of energetic particles. Thus, the periodic tearing mode is a possible mechanism of particle acceleration. Also, the period agrees with the time scale of single spikes while the e-fold time is comparable to that of spike groups. Thus, the evolution of radio spikes may be related to the periodicity of energetic particle beam and electric field.
