The authors present the results of observations of over 200 square degrees of the galactic plane, as part of a radio patrol survey for variable sources at a wavelength of 6 cm. Fifteen new variable sources have been discovered, and a further 16 sources are possibly variable. In addition, the authors present a catalog of 534 discrete radio sources. The survey is capable of detecting variability on time scales of both a few days and one or two years. Approximately 50% of the variable sources were observed to vary only on the longer time scale, typically varying by a factor of about 2. The short-term variables exhibit a much larger range of variability, up to a maximum of a factor of 200. Evidence suggests that the short-term variables are primarily galactic, and the long-term variables are primarily extragalactic.
