The properties of 17 cluster stars belonging to the recently recognized group of "sn" stars have been examined. In addition to the anomalous appearance of the lines, the main feature is the low projected rotational velocity: 12 out of 16 stars have V sin i values lower than 50 km s-1, all 16 being under 100. It is shown that this represents true low rotation. The simultaneous presence of other kinds of peculiarities favours a close relationship with the Bp and Ap stars. In the clusters older than 5×107 yr all the stars (7) with V sin i ≤ 50 km s-1 and not classified as Ap present the "sn" anomaly; this is not verified in younger clusters. The alternative is then: either the "sn" stars are the normal state of slowly rotating stars or they are peculiar. If the latter should prove to be true, then normal slowly rotating stars cannot exist for more than 5×107 yr before developing any peculiarity.
