We propose to search for eclipsing binaries among the pre-main sequence (PMS) stars of the Vela Molecular Ridge (VMR) star forming region. This search will provide candidates for dynamical mass measurements via spectroscopic follow-up studies. Dynamical mass estimates for PMS stars are of particular importance because the absolute mass calibrations of theoretical evolutionary tracks are currently unconstrained by observational measurements. At the same time, our search for eclipsing PMS stars will provide the first study of PMS rotation periods in the VMR. The evolution of stellar angular momentum from the PMS phase to the main sequence is a major open question. The ``standard'' model of angular momentum loss due to interaction with a circumstellar disk was supported by some observations (e.g. the correlation of slow PMS rotators with disk signatures), but has recently been challenged based on new data from Orion. Comparison with a large sample of rotation periods from a different star forming region is urgently needed.
