The set of instruments described is to be flown on Spacelab for studies of the spectra of cosmic X-ray sources and for the detection of polarized X-ray emission. The proposed payload comprises a number of large area Bragg spectrometers, each selected for study of particular features in the range 0.5 to 10 keV. Doubly curved crystal spectrometer panels provide high sensitivity for X-ray line studies. These panels are also used as a high sensitivity polarimeter. High energy resolution at low energies is achieved using an X-ray grating with a large area Wolter I X-ray grazing incidence mirror.
