Theoretical models about the morphology and optical nonthermal emission of galactic jets are discussed, mainly referring to the case of M 87. It is shown that observed physical features can be related to the dynamical interaction of the jet moving through the intracluster gas. Dense clouds or large scale unstable perturbations can explain the structure of the blobs, while nonthermal high frequency radiation can be due to synchroton emission by electrons accelerated in turbulent plasmas or in shock fronts.
