The criterion established by Ishida (1990) for double-mode pulsation is revised to describe the same phenomenon in oscillator model equations with two-mode nonresonant coupling. The models with evolutionary masses are found to be effective, and four types of behavior are identified in limiting amplitudes space: mode-0-only, mode-1-only, either-or, and double-mode. Oscillator model equations corresponding to certain limiting amplitudes are examined to numerically study modal selection properties, a process that demonstrates the validity of the revised criterion.
