The binary 1E2259+586 may provide an opportunity for a flux comparison between air showers observed by an atmospheric Cerenkov counter and muons detected deep underground. For the interval 4-11 October 1988, both the Durham surface detector and the Soudan 1 underground have some evidence for observation of flux from the direction of 1E2259+586, modulated at the second harmonic of that source's 6.978 s X-ray period. Air shower and single muon fluxes are comparable suggesting that the muons result from hadronic-type airshowers with a mean energy of about 100 TeV.
