Observations of short-period photometric fluctuations in T Tauri stars show flarelike events. These events are consistent with the superposition of many solar-like flare events and have a power-spectrum frequency dependence of ˜f-2. This dependence is the same as that observed on UV Ceti stars. The flare events are very powerful, and the expected proton flux from these events may explain early solar system abundance anomalies without recourse to nearby supernovae. The flare events are consistent with the observations of mass loss in these stars.
