For main-sequence binaries with components not earlier than F8, the population of the (e,logP) plane is reviewed. Summarized in this paper are numerous computer simulations of idealized binaries for which the orbital evolution is constrained to follow the theory of J.-P. Zahn (1977, 1978). The sensitivities of this theory to the spin:orbital angular momentum distribution, binary age, and original orbital eccentricity are summarized. In general, the theory provides an adequate explanation for binaries whose Keplerian periods are not greater than about 20 days and whose eccentricities are not large. BY Dra provides a conspicuous exception to the rest of the binaries studied, in that its dynamical age is only of the order of 10 to the 8th yr.
