Quasi-periodic fluctuations in the apparent position of type 1 solar radio sources with periods in the range 12-35 min are reported. These fluctuations are attributed to variable ionospheric refraction on the electron density inhomogeneities connected with the propagation of internal waves in the F2 region. The effects produced by these inhomogeneities on radio heliography are discussed. The observation of these fluctuations is a good means to detect gravity and acoustic waves in the F2 region, and can yield valuable information on their parameters.
