Scientific paper

It is shown experimentally that radial shearing interferometers which
filter the incoming radiation as a function of longitudinal source
position can be used to reduce unwanted scattered light in astronomical
instruments. The interferometric filter acts without degrading the
astrometric properties of the instrument.
