Hydrodynamic approach to the boiling heat transfer analysis has been formulated at first in works of Russian Scientists (Kruzhilin 1948, and Kutateladze 1951). Using an analog between processes of gas bubbling through liquid and boiling of liquid on a heated surface, and using the Kruzhilin criteria which defines the critical velocity of bubbling, S.S. Kutateladze proposed the formula for critical heat flux (burnout). Later, in (Zuber 1958) the analytical value of the Kutateladze criteria was obtained from the analysis of gas-liquid interface stability. (AIP)
