Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis was carried out on two samples of subcalcic augites and one sample of bronzite from regolith collected by the Luna 20 probe. Particular attention was given to determining the parameters of unit cells. The data obtained through the use of a nomogram were employed to identify the decomposition phases (augite and pigeonite) in clinopyroxenes. The compositions obtained are found to correspond to the equilibrium temperatures of decomposition and indicate a strong quenching of the given clinopyroxenes from temperatures close to their crystallization temperature. The subcalcic augites appear to belong to the class of fast-cooling lunar rocks. As compared to X-ray diffraction characteristics, the bronzite sample is analogous to the Luna 20 bronzites described in the literature, which originate from crystalline lunar rocks and are marked by slow subsolidus cooling.
