The GONG (Global Oscillation Network Group) project proposes to reduce the impact of diurnal variations on helioseismic measurements by using the data from six sites placed around the globe. The data from the sites must be combined into a single time series in order to determine mode frequencies, amplitudes and line widths. Here, we report on tests of a simple (all weights = 1) average merging algorithm emphasizing the results in the p-mode frequency band around 3 mHz.
