A comparison is made between Ulysses Energetic Particle Composition instrument H3(+) results for the Jovian magnetosphere and HI-SCALE data for this ion species from the Jovian ionosphere published by Lanzerotti et al. (1993). It is found that H3 particles are found even outside the bow shock region. In the magnetosphere, acceleration processes affect H3 particles from the auroral region of the ionosphere.
