An overview is presented of measurements obtained from the Solar Wind Observations Over the Poles of the Sun (SWOOPS) plasma experiments carried by Ulysses, emphasizing northern-hemisphere observations but furnishing comparative southern and equatorial results as well. SWOOPS has established that solar wind momentum flux during the fast pole-to-pole transit of Ulysses at solar minimum was significantly greater over the poles than at near-equatorial latitudes. This suggests that the heliosphere has a noncircular cross-section.
