We request 960 h to observe the complete ATLAS survey areas at 1.4 GHz using CABB. The sensitivity limitations previously imposed by the bright confusing source have now been resolved, and we aim to (1) use CABB to achieve the originally proposed sensitivity over the full ATLAS survey regions (CDFS and ELAIS-S1) at 1.4 GHz; (2) measure the evolution in both active nucleus and star formation dominated systems over significant fractions of cosmic time (up to 80% the age of the universe for star formers, and the whole of cosmic history for active nuclei); and (3) test new analysis techniques and confusion mitigation strategies for ASKAP continuum surveys, such as EMU. A pilot version of this proposal was submitted for 2009APRS and an allocation of 36hrs is scheduled for June 2009.
