Details will be presented on our statisitcal study of the magnetic field strength in rich, low-redshift Abell clusters. The cluster list was selected from a cross- correlation of linearly polarized sources falling within the completed fields in the ongoing Northern VLA Sky Survey (Condon et al 1993) and high photon-count Abell clusters from the ROSAT survey (Trumper 1993). In a rotation measure analysis similar to Kim, Tribble and Kronberg (1991) we have selected two sets of linearly polarized sources, one behind the central regions of the Abell clusters and one control sample further from the cluster's x-ray centroid. The sample consists of 57 'cluster' sources and 51 'control' sources behind 16 Abell clusters. We will discuss the source sample as well as several key differences in our approach from that of previous rotation measure studies. Results will also be presented from the preliminary data analysis.
