Based on recent data gathered at the Anglo-Australian Observatory we present the galaxy luminosity functions for seven rich clusters. The clusters are: A0022, A0204, A0545, A0868, A2344, A2547, A3888. These clusters all lie at a redshift of, z 0.15 but vary in richness and Bautz-Morgan type. The luminosity distribution of galaxies is recovered over the range -24.0 > M(R) > -16.5 and hence extends well into the dwarf galaxy regimes (M(R) > -19.5). We find a wide variety of luminosity function shapes varying from flat (A3888) to those showing a distinct upturn at M(R) = -19.0 (A0868). Plotting the dwarf-to-giant ratio against various cluster characteristics suggests that the relative density of dwarfs to giants is correlated with cluster density, Bautz-Morgan type and the cluster area surveyed. We conclude that lower density clusters, clusters with low Bautz-Morgan type and cluster cores show a significantly lower ratio of dwarf-to-giant galaxies. The result supports a picture in which dwarf galaxies are less strongly clustered than the giants and are more numerous in environments with a flatter gravitational potential.
